Tasked with designing a book that embodied a part of a famous person’s identity, this brief really excited me. I chose the Maryland rapper “Logic”, focusing on his internal and external struggle for success throughout his career and how he has expressed this through his music. Every aspect of the book had to represent this, from the image treatment, typography, and even the editorial layout. I primarily focused on portraying a journey of his career so far, with each page showing an evolution of his mental health, portrayed through the image treatment, typography, and layout. The main form of image treatment I used was abstract paint marks. These were painted on top of photos of him throughout his career and represent his inner feelings during that time in his career, contrasting with the original photo which only portrays what he wanted everyone to see.
