TV is changing. Young people are watching 49% less
traditional television than they did five years ago. Flux aims to bring some much-needed
flare back to the television industry. Being asked to create a cutting edge,
modern TV channel aimed at bringing 18-30 year olds back to television. With
the channel showing a wide cultural spectrum of genres, it was important to
show this through the channels branding. This is where the use of light
refraction comes into effect. Light refraction happens when a beam of light is
shot through glass, splitting off into separate colours, metaphorically
representing the wide genre of shows all coming from one channel. The name Flux
represents the constant evolution and flow of something, appearing to pass or
travel through a surface. Each genre has its own unique refraction style, letting
the viewer know the type of content that they are about to watch.
